Degradation of Ibuprofen by the Electro/Fe3+/Peroxydisulfate Process: Reactive Kinetics, Degradation Products and Mechanism

چکیده

Ibuprofen (IBU), a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug, is one of the most widely used and frequently detected pharmaceuticals personal care products in water bodies. This study examined IBU degradation aquatic solutions via ferric ion activated peroxydisulfate (PDS) coupled with electro-oxidation (EC/Fe3+/PDS). The mechanisms involved three synergistic reactions EC/Fe3+/PDS system, including: (1) electro-oxidation; (2) SO4•? generated from activation PDS by ferrous ions formed cathodic reduction; (3) electron transfer reaction. radical scavenging experiments indicated that •OH dominated oxidation process. effects applied current density, concentration, Fe3+ dosage, initial concentration pH as well inorganic anions humic acid on efficiency, were studied, process followed pseudo-first-order kinetic model. About 99.37% was removed 60 min ((Fe3+ concentration) = 2.0 mM, (PDS 12 (initial 30 mg/L, density 15 mA/cm2, 3). Finally, seven intermediate compounds identified probable pathways system speculated.

The Photocatalytic, Thermal Degradation Kinetics and Lifetime Prediction of Some Commercial Reactive Dyes

The photocatalytic degradation of the commercial reactive Black5 (RB5), Blue19 (RB19), Green19 (RG19), Red120 (RR120), and Yellow81 (RY81) in aqueous solution and sunlight were examined in the presence of Fe2O3 and the mixture Fe2O3/H2O2 as catalysts. The results showed that the photocatalytic degradation followed first-order...

Kinetics of photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue on nanostructured TiO2 coatings created by sol-gel process

Sol-gel process was chosen to produce a photocatalytic film to degrade methylene blue. In order to study structural and morphological properties of the coatings, a base sol of TTIP, I-PrOH, and DEA was prepared. Then with addition of 45g/L PEG 2000, 30g/L TiO2 and 15g/L PEG 2000 + 30g/L TiO2, to the base sol, three other sols were produced. The results of this study indica...

Study of Photooxidative Degradation of Reactive Dyes from Aqueous Solutions by UV/ C102 Process

The color removal of three reactive dyes in an aquatic system without priortreatment was studied. Selected commercial dyes were treated with NaC102 andUV as oxidation agents. Effects of nature of oxidant, temperature, pH ofsolutions, concentration of C107—, contact time of C102— and UV irradiation wereinvestigated. Optimal C102— concentration for color removal in the absence of UVirradiation wa...
